The Decade – UNESCO’s IOC facilitates a workshop on enhancing regional capacity building in the Indian Ocean Region within the framework of the Ocean Decade

As part of the regional consultations for the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), the Indian Ministry of Earth Sciences and the National Institute of Ocean Technology in cooperation with UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) hosted the Western, Northern and Central Indian Ocean Workshop on 8-10 January in Chennai, India. The workshop – which gathered more than 100 participants – was organized for the countries bordering the Indian Ocean and the parties to the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME).
